Hello!

My partner and I have bought our first house, a wooden house from 1936. Naturally, with this comes a thousand questions. I would say that I have a fairly good grasp on how various renovations work, but the only thing I haven't renovated/replaced is the ceilings.

In the living room/kitchen, there is wood paneling with a distinct wood texture on the ceiling (of the brand Huntonit, see attached image) which is in the wrong direction according to me. Neither my partner nor I are very fond of this ceiling. The color is supposed to be white, but it leans more towards yellow.

My thoughts are as follows:
- Is there a way to make the wood texture invisible? Or at least make it somewhat nicer?

- Is it better to tear it down and install a gypsum ceiling? Note: (can this crack since wooden houses move?)

- The slightly more expensive option that my partner has taken a liking to: beadboard.

I prefer gypsum ceilings because the entire surface becomes smooth, but as mentioned, I'm unsure whether it will crack or not - it might be worth noting that this is an area of about 50 square meters, and there are 3 different ceilings around the house. Beadboard in one room, chipboard with white plastic foil in 3 rooms, and then these wood panels.

Grateful if anyone can help me with these questions.
Best regards, Sebastian.
