I need help. We have a small extension on the house and here there is a porch and an old pantry. We would like to demolish the wall between and get a larger porch that can accommodate a washing machine.
I have made a small sketch of how I think it can be done. I don't believe the wall is load-bearing, but since it is a log wall, we want to keep a section on each side of the wall and reinforce it with glulam columns.
Is it possible to do this? Or is a glulam beam above also necessary?
