Build a tent out of construction plastic around, put on a disposable suit and a good breathing filter, so you avoid spreading so much dust.
Not much dust with a hammer and chisel, much more manageable than with machines, that's overkill.

Ehhh what have I said about tool choice:surprised:
I just gave advice on how TS could minimize the dust problem regardless of which tool TS chooses.

Hello,

I'm going to tear down a hideous fireplace in my house. (The house was built in 1915 and this monstrosity doesn't belong here). See picture.

Now to my problem; no one even wants to give a quote for the job. I would preferably not do it myself, but it's leaning towards having to be that way. Everything needs to go, the fireplace, tegel, and chimney.

Question one: Is there anyone who can provide tips on someone who can perform demolition in Gothenburg?

Question two: If I can't get a hold of anyone, how feasible could this demolition be to do myself? Do you think the 'upper part' is solid or hollow, anyone with experience of similar?
How did it turn out? :)

And then I gave my advice so he could avoid coveralls, tents, and all the protection.
I've torn down a few stoves and chimneys.
But oh well.

Well, it was craftsmen who had the honor of doing it. It took two people an entire day to break away the stuff. The upper part turned out to be very massive and quite difficult to deal with. (I was home working that day and they worked actively all day).

A fun surprise was that the floor underneath was intact and the stone slab that had been in front of the tiled stove that once stood there (but was tragically removed in the 70s) was still there.

There has been talk of dust in the thread, it was quite dusty. They sealed off the space and had a dust trap but it was still quite dusty in nearby rooms.

In summary, I'm glad I didn't do it myself.

A fireplace with a textured, cone-shaped chimney and brick surround, filled with children's toys, including a red toy car on a wooden floor. Green cabinet with plants and string lights on top, surrounded by blue patterned wallpaper. A small orange inflatable toy stands beside the cabinet.
