How do you handle taping of windows externally/internally and what kind of tape? Building with loose timber, have taped some of the windows externally with sealing tape wondering if that layer should be on the inside? Does anyone know?

Also struggling with loose timber. I taped all the windows externally with diffusion-open tape. Will use the same type of tape inside to tape between the vapor barrier and the frame. Started with the exact same tape, which was tricky to manage. Now waiting to get a special tape that has a split protective film. A narrower piece is pulled off first so the tape can be attached to the frame, and a wider one to secure to the reveal. Tried making such tape by very carefully splitting the protective film with a razor blade. It's much easier than taping with a friendly tape with a full protective film. However, I wouldn't recommend splitting the film yourself.
