Hello, planning to create a sleeping alcove for the children and need to open up about 2 meters in a load-bearing wall on the upper floor. My question is if it's sufficient to build on the existing "stud" in the ceiling with 2 pieces of 45x225?
You probably need to describe a bit more how you are thinking, maybe a drawing?
Spontaneously, I would say to notch in a horizontal beam at the back of the vertical beams where you want the top edge of the hole. Bracing done and you can cut up your hole. But calculate some loads first so you know if it works.
