What are the options and where can one find textile nets that can be used as flooring for a small loft between the rafters for the kids?

In the style of Children playing on a textile net loft floor between ceiling beams above a dining area.

Firm or soft like a trampoline

Fixed.

There are galvanized and stainless steel reinforcement meshes (no rust) and strong ones, but it requires quite a strong fastening so it cannot fall down, but you need to discuss that part with someone else, it's not possible to provide a suggestion on the distance.

A custom-made cargo net with the proper attachment should work. It should be possible to get manufacturers of sports nets to fix it. However, expect that it also needs to be safe for adults.

Ok, not so rigid, it should be some sort of textile so it's somewhat soft to crawl/sit on.

Cargo net sounds good, but I haven't found anything good online, any idea who sells?

I found http://usacord.ch/2984/produkte-3/netze (nets on a roll) at Hornbach, but they seem a bit flimsy. I sent them an email and asked.

Cool idea!

Did an image search for protection nets and stumbled upon this page, Scancord, they should probably have something that fits. I was thinking of ones like those behind hockey goals or at driving ranges, but there seems to be a plethora of different kinds. Didn't see anything about load capacity/sqm but you probably want a few 100 kg.

Unfortunately, I have no idea where they are, the "nets" for play/climbing structures, both in chains with plastic on the outside and the nets made from everything from coarse hemp to poly....some plastic, ropes, they can withstand several hundred kilos, several tons when in net construction.

I have a faint memory that a Danish company manufactures "climbing nets"
maybe not helpful....

Keep in mind that they need to withstand various rough play and wear....

Regards, P-A

Maybe I should clarify, I know who sells them, I just don't want to recommend anything because I have no clue about the quality of their products.
I am a climber myself, I would have tied my own net if it were for me...

Best regards, P-A

Best answer

The net you are asking about in the picture is likely a safety net that we use around and under the scaffolding, Scancord markets them, there are several manufacturers.

Best regards again.....

Tying your own is an exciting option. Any tips on information regarding materials and methods?

Thank you, I hadn't thought about searching for fall protection nets!

I received a response from Scancord that their safety nets ([link]) are suitable for the purpose
Great, feel free to send a picture when you're done, it's fun with pictures.
Good luck, remember that the attachments should be secure....

If you want to tie your own, choose any boat rope, like anchor line or halyard line. An 8mm line has a breaking strength of about 1500kg depending on the brand, and a 10m line has a breaking strength of about 2000kg depending on the brand. The tricky part is really the attachment, to ensure that it truly holds. But it should be possible to solve with a wire attached to hooks or something similar, or maybe a sturdy piece of wood with lots of holes that can be screwed into place.
