Hi, I was thinking of doing something special with the roller blind to make it really dark. I was planning to attach a U-shaped plastic strip on each side of the window for the blind to run in, hopefully filtering out side light.

But then I would need to attach it with double-sided tape. Is there any that sticks well and can handle a bit of wear and tear that can be recommended? The wall is painted where it would be attached.

Or if anyone has other suggestions for a solution to make it completely dark, please feel free to suggest.

Thank you in advance.

Cassette roller blind?

I have tried to find such, but they seem to be mostly for skylights for some reason. I would need one that is adaptable as the windows have somewhat unusual measurements.

But these were what I had in mind when I thought of this method.

I'm looking for roller blinds for the country house...

There is double-sided strong mounting tape but I've never really succeeded with tape, sooner or later it gives way. Metal rail and screw it on?

Magnet strip?

Screwing would have been desirable, but it becomes difficult with a U-strip to screw it in, as it must "lie on its side."

Shall take a look at it

What have you put up with it? Judging by the reviews, it seems to stick strongly. In this case, there won't be any weight it has to hold up (at least if you use a plastic strip), so it should work excellently.

Have previously installed towel hooks. Sure, they can come off with abnormal pulling, but the hooks are still holding after a year.

I have also used this at work when we installed wireless temperature sensors on marble-clad walls; they have stayed for 3+ years. The sensors are quite light, but still, it's in public areas.

One of the largest manufacturers offers, among other things, double-sided tape for their U-strips; they use 3M tape that is UV resistant, just make sure all the grease is gone from the wall before you put it up.

3M has slightly thicker body tape that is used for mounting spoilers, etc., on cars. It might be worth trying.

The problem is likely the structure and material where it should adhere. If it's wallpaper, the outer "layer/fuzz" might separate/come off. If it's an uneven painted surface, the tape won't get as good a grip.
