I am going to renovate a room in the "basement section" of a split-level house. The room has concrete walls, and I was thinking of framing and putting drywall on 3 of the walls. None of the walls are below ground or against an exterior wall. Is it okay to frame with wooden studs and then drywall on top of that? There are no signs whatsoever that previous wallpapers have come loose or other moisture issues.

Just to be safe, use steel studs. That way you won't have to worry about it in the future.

How do you attach floor/ceiling moldings to the metal studs?
I still don't think it should be a problem with wooden studs, but sure, you can be 100% sure. On the other hand, the same wallpaper has been on the concrete since '76.

With screw. Self-drilling screw

works well with wood too, just put some roofing felt between the stud and the concrete. (cheaper than metal studs)

if you have moisture problems in the house I would probably go with metal in that case (safer in a damp environment)
