We have a level difference inside the house between an old part and a new one. The step in between is somewhat wider than a regular step, about 1.60 cm, and leads into a 2-meter long corridor. The step is a bit too high to be comfortable. If we just build one step in between, it will be quite low. Has anyone had the same issue and how have you solved it? There is a decent amount of space in front of where the step goes up.

No answer from me unfortunately as I was just about to write a similar question, but I'm following this thread with excitement. We are facing the same issue. Our step height between the new and old part (the living room) will be 20 cm. I have now tried to read everything about step rhythm and step heights. How significant is 3 cm (from the recommended 17 cm) when it's just ONE step?
