since much of the house looked good, there's not much to do... but the stairs need redoing ugh
it's a wooden staircase with a plastic mat and a plastic edge folded over the front.
my first thought was to paint it white, and then put in a dark floor on it. I've seen several threads about it.
but a drawback is that the stairs are "solid," meaning you can't see between the steps.
how should one do that? just lay edge to edge?
and then how to fix the front edge? I think the stair nosing was a bit beveled :S

The risers already exist, so they will just be painted with white paint.
What I meant was where you walk, the risers, how I should solve it on the edge? I was just thinking of placing a molding, it's just a matter of finding it. And there's also a beveled edge now, so I have to plane it off first to make it straight.
