Stair design software..?
I've tinkered a bit with the program Staircon. Some cracked version with partly Russian text, so it was a bit iffy. I don't really remember where I got it from. But at least I was able to produce a staircase, though something was also acting up; I don't remember exactly, but I recall it came after a while, it might have been a time-limited demo version. If I find the installation, I can send it to you. PM your email address in that case.
Otherwise, if I look at their website, you can, of course, buy one, but it probably costs quite a bit: https://www.staircon.com/sv
They also have some kind of demo on their site; I'm not sure what you can do there, I suspect there is some limitation to not being able to manufacture a staircase with the material, but you can check: https://www.staircon.com/sv/skapa-din-trappa-pa-webben
Finally, I found this one: https://en.freedownloadmanager.org/Windows-PC/StairCon.html
However, I'm a bit suspicious of these kinds of sites that deliver software; it's not uncommon to find bundled bloatware, spyware, or malware in the installation packages.

Staircon is an excellent program that I used in my business. It costs a pretty penny as it is aimed at professionals. Not for private individuals, in other words. Unfortunately, I no longer have the program because I have closed my company. The link I previously included, however, might be of some help.

All 3D programs are useful when drawing stairs, but none of them solve the problems for you in a good way. If you stick to some simple rules and are prepared to spend some time, it can still turn out well. Drawing stairs is a typical sketching task. You have to start with something that you then adjust little by little. There are free versions of Sketchup and Form-Z that can be used, but they take some time to learn.
A good starting point is the so-called stair formula: Twice the riser height plus the tread depth in cm should be 60-63. In a staircase, the riser height should be the same all the time, as should the tread depth at the walking line. The walking line is normally 40 cm out from the wall. The tread depth is measured from one stair nose to the next, without regard to any overhang. You should ideally start by determining how much space the staircase can take up. You work simultaneously both in plan and in height. Then there are a large number of other aspects, width, regulatory requirements, design ambitions, strength, material choices, safety, etc.

Anyone have any new ideas on how to get a program where I can draw a staircase?
I need to draw 2 angled staircases for the cabin I'm designing.
I'm drawing in Inventor, so I need to be able to retrieve the measurements of the steps themselves. The Russian program available leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to details.

Oh dear, I might still have the program files for a pirated copy of staircon on some backup hard drive somewhere. Unfortunately, I don't have any time to spare to look for it now, if it's OK to wait a few weeks, maybe a month, then I can try to find it later.
did you possibly find anything? I'm in the same situation and need to build a staircase.Mikael_L said:
