Hello!
Can someone describe to me how to create a square hole in a plank :S. The square hole should be 25x30 mm. Is a chisel the tool to use?

Drill and jigsaw?
Or with a multi-tool similar to Bosch's 10.8V-Li GOP?

Drill and jigsaw perhaps? But the hole sounds a bit small for that.

When you drill, the hole becomes round. The hole should not go straight through the plank but only halfway through.

I had driven with a chisel

Drill with a 25 mm wood drill to the correct depth and then remove the rest with a chisel.

Hello

I had used the milling machine and then finished the corners with a chisel.

Best regards, Wasa

Okay, I will try with that. Thank you!

True, but with a jigsaw, you can make it square. :)
For me, a hole is something that goes straight through the material.

At my previous job, we had a drill with square bits, and yes, it made square holes. (It was a mortising machine, but it impressed the preschool kids)

Hole = all the way through Bottenhål = not all the way through if you want to be a smart aleck.

If I need a rectangular hole, I use the pillar drilling machine with a coordinate table and mill and chisel the last part with a chisel.

How can square holes be made with a square bit? I'm having a hard time understanding how that works :D

scroll down to the 4th page

It is a sturdy drill with a sharp non-rotating square collar around the drill bit, like 4 chisels simultaneously
Used to make mortise holes as an alternative to long hole drilling.

Buy one like this and the accompanying chisel bit kit...;) (Or even better, a real chisel morticer.)
For this job, I wouldn't even have the energy to plug in the machine... (I've used mine once this year...)

Edit: Slow (and tired) as usual, it's probably because I haven't used my machines enough...

Can you put a stämborr in a regular drill?

In a steady column drill it goes, requires a lot of feed force.
