Square hole in plank? How?

At my previous job, we had a drill with square bits, and yes, it made square holes. (It was a mortising machine, but it impressed the preschool kids)
Hole = all the way through Bottenhål = not all the way through if you want to be a smart aleck.
If I need a rectangular hole, I use the pillar drilling machine with a coordinate table and mill and chisel the last part with a chisel.

It is a sturdy drill with a sharp non-rotating square collar around the drill bit, like 4 chisels simultaneously
Used to make mortise holes as an alternative to long hole drilling.

Buy one like this and the accompanying chisel bit kit...
(Or even better, a real chisel morticer.)
For this job, I wouldn't even have the energy to plug in the machine... (I've used mine once this year...)
Edit: Slow (and tired) as usual, it's probably because I haven't used my machines enough...

In a steady column drill it goes, requires a lot of feed force.
