I have replaced a sill in one spot in the bathroom and then discovered that the wood is rotten even 30-40cm up on a couple of studs. I would like to replace this with fresh wood, but I wonder how I should splice the studs together. Is it enough with a mending plate and anchor screws from both sides? It's mostly forces in the longitudinal direction, so I spontaneously think it should suffice.

Yes, it's fine to use spikbleck, as you mentioned. You also have cladding on both sides that holds the studs in place. However, experience shows that if there's rot in a piece of timber, it's present throughout the entire piece. But sure, it can take a long time before the rot becomes visible again, so try to replace as long a piece of the stud as possible.

Attach a stamp next to the rule and replace the entire rule instead

I would gladly replace the beams entirely, but they are each about five meters long and go through two floors, so it's a bit more work to do that than just replacing a part. :-)
