I have a question. I have a high wall, 3.5m. I have installed 3m gypsum boards upright, so they all end at the same height. Should I continue with my boards upright, or is it better to place a board over them? That way, I would get a tapered edge against the straight edges. If I place them edge to edge (butt joint), I was thinking of gluing a paper tape over them and then plastering afterwards. If I place a tapered board, I'm considering whether it's better to fill in with joint compound first, then glue a tape to make it smooth for the tape, and then plaster. Placing a tape partly in the taper and then over the edge doesn't seem like it would be strong. A third option is to cut off the taper, place edge to edge, and then glue the tape. This would essentially be the same as taking the tapered board and filling with gypsum...

A partially completed wall with vertically placed gypsum boards, wooden panel at the top, and some boards leaning against the wall.

A high wall and ceiling under construction with standing drywall sheets. A ladder and tools are visible, partially covered windows in the background.

All options will work. Bevel it a bit, put a board, apply putty, apply a tape, and spackle over everything.

Tips. Search Vancouver Carpenter on YouTube and "how to coat drywall (butt joints)".
Many great spackling tips in his videos.
Just feather the edge! :)

Watching Vancouver's video clips (Quite a lot of good tips), he mixes filler himself, and compared to what's in my buckets, it's quite runny. Is it possible to thin regular Lättspackel a bit? It doesn't feel wrong to work with. Isn't it quite unusual to mix yourself in Sweden? I usually mix joint compound to fill slightly larger seams and repairs, but otherwise, I always go with a bucket. The open time for mixed seems to be short. The joint compound is about half an hour. The example in the videos was about 60-90 minutes. I'm a bit too much of an amateur for that :)
