I'm in the process of tearing down old mosaic in the kitchen and a lot of the wall/concrete is coming off with it. There will be new tiles, of course, but not as high as it previously was. Do you think I can fill the holes with filler and then sand, or do I need to use plasterboard?

There is so-called renovation plasterboard that is 6 mm thick. One solution could be to glue that onto the wall all the way up to the ceiling. Then you won't have to do so much filling. Plasterboard also provides a good flat surface to tile on.
I would have used husfix or a similar cement-based product, it fits well against the existing wall, and then you tile over this.
Ask at the tile store, they surely have tips on products that are compatible.
Renoveringsgips is thin and flimsy, and you still need cement-based adhesive to put up the drywall.

Thanks for the tip. I have now acquired house fix, as I remembered I can't use gypsum as it extends too much for the new kitchen 😊
