Spackle gypsum short side

When you putty the short sides of the drywall, do you also use paper tape there, and then putty over it? If so, doesn't it create a little bump at the tape?

There was recently a thread about this.
I use a plaster rasp and make my own countersink. Doesn't take very long and you avoid the bump.

I followed the advice here: Norgips it creates a small bump as you said, but if you spread it far enough to the sides, it shouldn't show (I'm not done yet so I don't know if that's true 😅)

Yes I do, the goal with the drywall rasp is to create a similar recess as there is on the long side, and when that is done I treat it just the same as the long side.
