Happy New Year everyone. I am in renovation mode just before 2022 and have just put up drywall in a room, but realized just after the second plastering that I made a mistake. I accidentally put the "reinforcement" in the gaps against the drywall, from what I've learned, you're actually supposed to apply some plaster and then place the tape or mesh in the plaster. Will this affect the result or will the effect be the same even though there is no plaster behind?
Best regards,
Gustav.

Have you used fiberglass strips or paper strips? If you've used fiberglass strips, there will still be putty behind.
There are even reinforcing mesh with adhesive, made to be glued on first, then covered with filler. Painters' rules, however, force them to use paper tape as reinforcement. Paper tapes are considered (and probably are) stronger, but I have always hated working with paper tapes, and none of my joints with mesh have cracked. It probably depends on whether the direction of movement is correct in relation to the mesh.
I myself have just practiced on a wall with a paper tape, and it turned out okay on two-thirds
You need to be aware of the types of filler, apparently, that are suitable for paper tapes. Now I first apply filler in the indentations, then wet room glue for the tapes, and finally another layer of filler, with drying time between all steps. If you are a painter, you do everything with the right products and carry it out as one step with just paper tape and filler...
Fiberglass/reinforcement mesh is much easier in that regard.

I used the fiber net, so far nothing has cracked and the result turned out well. I will probably do the same in the next room as it was significantly less messy and troublesome in my opinion.
