Hello!
I'm planning a construction that will function as a music house/rehearsal space. It is a house where I want to minimize the sound leakage to the surroundings. I already have a grip on the frame and wall construction, but now I want to find a good solution for windows (and doors).
Of course, the best option would be not to have any windows at all, but then it looks a bit too boring and it would also get a bit too dark inside.
Is there anyone here who has some good tips?
Price is a relatively important factor in this context, so I would prefer to avoid buying the most expensive options available...
Can something be constructed yourself?
Install double windows?
Thick glass?
Maybe someone knows where to buy at a reasonable price?
All tips are welcome!
Best regards,
David

If you mean all tips then:
There are certainly special glasses to buy. I'm thinking especially about industrial requirements and certain special accommodations near roads/trains. So, talk to a window manufacturer.
Install triple-glazed windows. Each step where sound changes medium is beneficial for you.
Set up a simple shutter or something similar that you can install from the inside (fabric-covered styrofoam or something) when you're really loud.
The difficult part is, as usual, bass sound, and it probably leaks everywhere, not just through windows.

Well, I've been thinking about adding extra soundproofing from the inside when it's at its worst...
I'll check with the window manufacturers to see what they recommend.
Just wanted to check here on the forum if there's anyone who's done a similar build and has interesting experiences about preventing sound leakage.
Best regards
David
