Framed the uneven ceiling with 28x70 battens in two rooms of the house using a laser, wedges, hardboard shims, and various blocks. It took forever and was generally a damn drag.

Now I have two carpenters at home to install the battens in the large spaces, and they are using Essve's frame screw L for interior doors. Tried doing a smaller room yesterday and was pleasantly surprised at how simple and smooth it went. Drive the screw to the bottom and then back it out to the desired height. Done.
Moreover, they only put two frame screws in every other ceiling joist and one in the rest.

This procedure might not be new to you, but it was to me :)

Now I just miss a smaller screw of the same type that could be used to level OSB in window recesses in the same way. That would be convenient.

Screw drywall screws into the window frame using a level and square to get them all at the same height. Dab PL on the screw heads and nail the OSB in place with the brad nailer.

Yeah, I'm familiar with that trick. It probably works well too.

It works really well!
I use the same technique when installing windows, 2-3 screws at the bottom, level it, put the window in place but use franska instead since they have hex heads. That way you can adjust if you've made a mistake without taking the window down.
