I have a tiny hole in the copper gutter, about 1x1mm I guess. But it's enough for it to drip through. How do I seal the hole most easily? Taking it down and sending it off for welding is not an option.

I've read that you shouldn't use silicone but rather outdoor sealant, but it feels so unnecessary to buy a 300ml outdoor sealant cartridge just to literally click in a small pea size. I'm wondering if I can use something I usually have at home. I have an open can of polyester filler with epoxy hardener, do you think it will work? Or maybe just duct tape?

Thanks in advance

Why not install one of these…

Silver phosphorus copper brazing alloy

Buy a tube of butyl sealant, it adheres and lasts longer than joint/sealant. Costs about a fifty-note, surely you can afford that for your gutter?

Looks perfect, that's probably what I'll go for!
Edit: Ah, it was discontinued and not in stock... typical

It's not really the cost that's an issue, more just that from an environmental point of view, it feels unnecessary to open an entire tube just to use half a pea... I know it will just sit and then get thrown away.
I realized I actually had a tube of butyl in the basement, but it's 8 years old and the package says 12-month shelf life. Throw it away or try it?

I would have recommended Tec7. You're going to need to use that for something anyway, guaranteed :)

But try with the butylen you have. If it's been stored well, there's probably nothing wrong with it I think.

What should TS use to heat the gutter if he is to follow your advice?

Ah alright. Yes, I'll probably try the tube and see if it seems okay. Thanks for the tip with Tec7, never used it but maybe it's good to have

This tape seems nice otherwise if you want to go with a tape solution, even a picture of a gutter hehe

Tape will not hold in the long run.

Aluminum and copper are not a good combo. It will cause galvanic currents that will lead to corrosion, meaning the hole will get bigger over time.

A black patch on a copper gutter will look like Åsa-nisse has been there to fix it.
