Sloped roof without a collar beam?
I am planning to build a roof over the entrance to our old summer house and intend to use roofing tiles as the covering. To achieve sufficient slope, I'm considering if I can attach the roof beams directly to the posts at the far end? They will stand at a distance of 120 cm, and between them, I plan to attach a 45 x 145. Surely that should work?
Hmm, haven't gotten around to it, just thought about it some more... Maybe one should instead use cardboard as roofing and have a lower pitch, but instead make a hipped roof. What makes me hesitant is what the construction should look like then.

The result, a bit of wall remains up towards the ceiling and some form of railing....
The entrance that was intended in the middle of the long side was moved to the left short side for practical reasons.
