Hi, we are in the process of building a patio that will be laid with slate. The concrete slab is finished, but yesterday the paver said it is too high, so the slate will end up 0.5 - 1 cm below the house wall to ensure a good slope away from the house.

I have previously heard that there needs to be more distance between the stone and the house wall (up to 5 cm) because the rain should not splash against the house wall to avoid the risk of moisture damage. What are your experiences? Do I have anything to worry about? Can it be solved in another way?

The concrete slab rests on a bed of macadam as well as polystyrene and reinforcing mesh. It is now held in place by leka blocks.

I am attaching images of how it looks right now. As you can see, there isn't much space between.
Close-up of slate tiles fitting tightly against a white wooden exterior with minimal gaps at a house corner. Gray patio stone tiles are closely spaced in front of a glass door with white frames. A newly constructed stone patio with tightly spaced tiles in front of a white house, surrounded by construction materials and dirt. Close-up of exterior wall and paving stones with minimal gap, showing paint chips and board texture.

looked really nice! How did it go? Much splashing/damage? What thickness did you have on the slab? Would prefer to go down to 6cm on ours to save on digging in rock...

It turned out nice in the end. I can see if I find some good pictures that I can upload. It was difficult to achieve a good slope since the slabs should be 3cm but we noticed that it varied. So far, we haven't had problems with water damage, though we do have a small collection of water in certain spots.
