Hello everyone!
Please, can you help me here,
I have a wall that is single-layer drywall with steel studs. I'm planning to hang a 65-inch TV on the wall. I asked someone to look at it and they said it's impossible. Are they right or should I hire someone else?

I had steel studs and regular drywall in the apartment. Worked fine. Hanging the TV flat on the wall and not with an arm that swings out should be fine. It was also an old flat screen TV that was quite heavy/thick.

Find the studs and screw/plug through them.

65” is okay if it's a flat wall mount. In other words, not swivel arms, etc. Use molly bolts (sheetrock anchors) now, not plugs or drives, to make it hold (at least 4 M6). A new 65” typically weighs under 20kg. It's also good to use a wall mount that is 60cm wide to distribute the weight. If you can locate where the studs are, it’s beneficial to screw in one screw through the stud for extra security.

Otherwise, screw up a plywood board and mount the TV on it. Make sure to use good screw anchors/molly. Use good tools [link]
We used plywood when we mounted screens weighing 60-90kg. For a screen of 16-20kg, it's completely unnecessary. You want the screen to be as slim against the wall as possible.

I am so grateful for your responses.
The TV is an LG C1 OLED that weighs about 32 kg and a soundbar that weighs 6 kg, so a total of 38-40 kg will be hung on the wall. But as I understand from your responses, it should be possible as long as one is creative. And the wall mounts are straight and flat.

1 m6 Molly in single gypsum should withstand about 40 kg straight out, so hanging a TV that sits flush against the wall is no problem.

That is the weight including the stand. It weighs about 25 kg without it. You attach the soundbar underneath with its own mountings. In other words, the weight is distributed over a larger area and more screws. So in my opinion, it's completely safe.

No, 40 kg is horizontal shear load. The tensile load is barely half. Essve specifies e.g., 45 kg shear, 18 kg tensile. However, this is the screw's durability. The wall also affects how much it can handle. In this case, it's nothing the original poster should be worried about though.

Hi Mojjen!
Yes, the TV weighs 24 kilos without its own stand and the wall mount I plan to hang the TV on weighs 2 kilos, so the total weight there is 26 kilos. The wall mount has options for two screws on each side and one in the middle, so a total of 5 screws.

The soundbar I plan to hang underneath the TV, and it weighs 6 kilos and its wall mount weighs 0.65kg, so nearly 7 kilos there.

Do you think this is possible on simple gypsum with a steel frame? Or should I put a plywood on the wall and hang it then?

Grateful for your feedback.

Forget the plywood. If this were a problem, I would have a much bigger problem. Like 5-600 screens around the country in the last 15 years, with an unknown number mounted on single plasterboard (Of course, mapped during the installation by the installers). I've never had any fall off:)
You only need 4 screws, but the one in the middle is quite good to fix with just one screw in the plasterboard while marking up the other holes.

NOTE Many mounts have a built-in spirit level, DO NOT use it. They are extremely inaccurate (It even says in several of their instruction manuals that they should only be seen as an indication, the world's worst function, just marketing......
It's really annoying with a crooked TV, you can see even a few millimeters.... So use a good spirit level or a laser if you have one. (Now I understood that you weren't installing yourself)....

Hi!
Thank you so much for your detailed feedback. No, I'm getting help from a craftsman to assist me with the installation.
