I want to remember that one function of washers is to prevent machine screws from becoming loose over time due to vibrations/movement.

Does this also apply to rounded wood screws where the screw head is against metal? In my case, the screw head is on metal drawer fittings and the threads go into wood. Should I have washers between the screw head and the drawer fitting for the reason mentioned in the previous paragraph? There will of course be a lot of vibrations/movement since the drawers will be pulled out and in thousands of times over time. Will the screws become loose if they don't have washers?

I accidentally placed the thread in the wrong subject. It was supposed to be in Building Materials & Construction Technology.

Thank you.

I just read that washers don't help with what I described anyway. What's effective is lock nuts or Loctite apparently, which of course doesn't work here.

There's much more friction on the threads when screwing into wood compared to bolt and nut. The latter can usually be screwed in with just fingers almost all the way.

I'll leave the fittings as they are with only screws.
