Hello. I want a 70mm sparse or outer panel with a 1.5cm gap as an interior ceiling.
To conceal the colorful electric pipes and vapor barrier visible in the gap between the panels, I need to apply some layer.
Those I know who have had a similar ceiling have used some form of soundproofing mat but they don't remember what it was. I'm considering using recycled paper or black landscaping fabric. Do you think this could lead to any problems? Like if, for example, landscaping fabric is flammable or glued with something hazardous? Wind paper seems to emit an odor. Other suggestions for materials?

Welcome to Byggahus!

What is above, on the next floor? You may need to take that into account. The simplest option is probably black asphalt felt with a bit of asphalt content, like AC 150.

It is a single-story house, so no second floor.

Then there might already be a plastic vapor barrier in the ceiling. Black asphalt felt is what is usually used to create a shading effect behind sparse paneling. There is also a quality called AC 350 which is a bit thicker and usually comes in larger widths.

Yes, there's a vapor barrier behind, so I only want something visual behind it. I've been advised against wind wrap with asphalt because of odor and emissions. I just found something called acoustic cloth designed to be placed behind paneling, but I haven't found the price yet.

I don't know anything about emissions, but AC 150 has 150 g of asphalt per sqm, it must eventually become completely negligible. Compare with regular underlayment which has 2500 g of asphalt per sqm. Then I think emissions from wood are a bigger problem. I have used this solution myself, both on the roof and on walls, and I haven't encountered any smell issues.

The acoustic fabric works well for this as it does not emit any emissions or fiber releases (dacron nonwoven). Use the thicker 130 grams fabric so the slats don't show through. Approximate price 60 SEK / m2 + VAT. We use this fabric when building slat panels in sound studios.
