Hello! We've had major problems with mice in our summer cottage.
We're currently renovating and considering how to protect against the mice.
We plan to install a new kitchen and thought about placing a steel mesh in the joints between the floor/wall and wall ceiling, since there won't be moldings behind the kitchen cabinets.
Is there any reason to do this even where there are floor and ceiling moldings?
I'm also planning to seal carefully around the drain pipe.
Is there anything else you would do to protect against mice when I'm already replacing interior walls?

Sand with steel wool.

Everywhere, even where you have moldings?

Where the net doesn't work.

But it works with nets everywhere, doesn't it? If you want it to, if it's needed.

Spray foam is good against mice.
Don't they gnaw through it?

Nooo they don't do that.

Ok, foam sealant feels good to fill cavities with.

I have installed internal electrical conduits. Should I be worried that they attack the conduits and reach the electrical wires?

For me, they have gnawed tunnels in the foam sealant, so I wouldn't choose that.

A friend who is a farmer and has animals on the farm has had problems with mice and rats, and he claims that they do not attack it, i.e., polyurethane foam.
