I have a house from 1972 with a central fan where I have done some wiring over the attic and also installed a couple of spotlights in the ceiling. Due to this, the vapor barrier on the inner ceiling has been punctured. Should this be fixed? If so, should I tape the edges of the box itself that sits over the spotlights? Tape around the cables?

What you are describing is very common in older houses that have been updated/modified over the years. If there are no significant problems with, for example, moisture in the attic, I would leave it without any action.

Thank you for the response. The wind is super nice and I hope it continues to be so as well :) The previous owner has never made any holes; it was I who started with it this spring, so I think the problems might not have arisen yet.

Admittedly, there are already 4 larger holes from the ventilation.

Larger holes are good to repair. But when it comes to things like cable glands, not many people probably do that.
