Seal between glulam and screw holes

I'm currently building a conservatory (the carpenters are building it). I can already see that there are deep holes left by screws in some places. We've also reinforced the center post, so now there are two studs against each other.

My questions are now: How do you seal after screw holes? It's hard to just paint over them. The second question is if I can seal between the two posts so they look like one.

I read about this sealant, is this the right way to seal and then paint over?

Got the tip to use filler as well. Don't know which will look better. Maybe sealant won't be as even?

As a tip to others, it ended up being Plastic Padding Elastic Superspackel. Hope it will work well.
