Hello!
After moving in and discovering an unpleasant smell from the sunroom floor, we tore it up today. Underneath, the previous owner had insulated with mineral wool directly on the ground. We found nine rat corpses in various stages of decomposition. All the insulation is now removed and we hope this makes the foundation less appealing to rodents.
The sunroom is built directly against the house's facade, and when I check the air gap, it is clear that the soft netting meant for insects (I think?) has been gnawed away in several places. Hopefully, they chose to nestle into the insulation on the ground rather than entering the house. No one else in the neighborhood (semi-detached houses built the same way) has ever had animals in the walls.
I still think it might be wise to seal the gap. It's too wide for mouse tape, could mouse brush (

In the pictures, you can see the facade and the gap where netting is missing.
Thanks!
