No response on the kitchen forum so I'm trying here instead! I've torn out our old kitchen and now I'm wondering how to install the range hood. The old hood was placed in a cabinet, which was attached to a board nailed to the chimney breast! The house contains many such "special solutions" so I'm not too surprised. The new hood will be in the same place, but not built into a cabinet; instead, I've bought a "regular" hood. Can I screw it directly into the chimney breast? Wondering "Someone who's never torn out a kitchen before"

There should probably be no problems. Just use the right screws and plugs so the cover stays in place.

OK, I think I've seen so many discussions back and forth about what you can and cannot do with a skorstensstock. The chimney sweeps certainly have a lot of opinions...
