Hello, building a swing and as the construction has changed during the project, I have no choice but to try to make it work as it looks now.

I have two posts 95x95 with a crossbeam 95x95. Now I need to fix the crossbeam to the end grain of the posts. You see in the picture, clamps and small wooden pieces are just to hold the crossbeam in place temporarily.

I don't want screws or fasteners, plates, or metal to be visible, which would have made it easier

How would you attach the crossbeam to the posts?

I'm considering drilling 21mm through the crossbeam and into the post and inserting a round bar with glue, do you think that would hold? Or pre-drilling and driving in 2 long screws, 200mm through the crossbeam down into the posts.

Thank you in advance.

Wooden swing construction with two 95x95 posts and a horizontal beam. Beam is clamped in place with visible clamps and small wooden blocks, set in a garden.

Make sure to keep adults away from it because I don't think it can support larger people regardless of how you attach the horizontal. There will be quite large forces in all directions on swings.

Maybe replace the crossbeam with 45x120/145 and notch the posts at the top by 50%. Then you can glue and fasten one or two bolts through each post.

How do you stabilize the posts against the ground? Long screws from above sound like the best option!

We had planned a different construction initially but encountered issues and thought we'd see how it turns out; otherwise, it will have to be supplemented :)

Thought about it from the start, but it ended up like this and I want to avoid notching regardless of 95/120/145 etc., hence it becomes a bit trickier now...

Cast, 80 and 60kg of concrete in each post with post iron and fixed in the beam (170) in the deck. Sits very stable.
