Hi!

This weekend, this amateur carpenter plans to install corner profiles (https://www.byggmax.se/vinkelprofil-l50-p20871) in the inner corners of my new construction. I've put up the OSB and now need to install the corner profiles before we put up the drywall.

What screws should I use? Does it need a low head so it doesn't build up too much? Should it be pre-drilled?

Grateful for any installation tips.

Just screw them in with drywall screws. You install them simultaneously with the drywall. If you absolutely want to screw them in beforehand, there's a special screw called lättbyggnadsskruv for this.

Matti has the answer, drywall screws work perfectly.

If you know, you know!
Of course you do it that way, saves screws and gets the job done at the same time

Thanks! (y)

I have successfully done it in the following way:

- Find a number of scrap pieces of OSB, 10-30 cm wide "strips".
- Apply a string of mounting glue on the back of the metal profile.
- Attach the metal profile in the corner; it stays in place thanks to the glue.
- Place the above strips in the corner (on both sides) and screw them in, without screwing through the metal but just outside. The strips will then act as clamps that press the metal profile perfectly into the corner where the glue hardens for a few hours.
- Remove the OSB strips.
- Screw drywall over.

The reason I prefer this somewhat more complex method is that if the metal isn't first glued in place, the drywall screw can grip just as well in the metal profile as in the OSB board behind the metal, potentially creating a gap between them. A gap that can't be eliminated by simply tightening the screw further.

I do it like this,

Push the profile so it fits well in the corner. Screw in the bracket with 2-3 screws on one side, let the other side hang freely. Plaster the other side, when you screw through the plaster it will also grab the bracket. Then remove the first 2-3 screws, now the rail is attached with the side you just plastered. Plaster the side where the 2-3 screws were.

- Goes quickly
- when you remove the first screw heads, there's nothing left to build up

I use combi-screws for the metal profile, they are a bit easier to screw through compared to regular plaster screws, but plaster screws also work. I just think combi-screws are easier so why not :)
