Use a reciprocating saw and let the sawdust fall down. It's not much to keep anyway.

One alternative would be to drill holes above where you are going to saw. In the holes, you press in sealant foam that holds the chip in place. Maybe worth a try. :-/

If you are going to use foam, make sure not to use too much... there are strong forces when it "foams"! Better to have many small holes and small dabs of foam!

Cut a groove in the outer wall and insert a sheet of metal or plywood to support the chip.
