I need to trim the door casing quite a bit in the bathroom. I'm planning to use a 25x16 moulding strip, followed by rabbeted casing. The moulding strip should stand so that it measures 25mm. Can I drive a 30mm brad nail through this into the frame without it cracking? I guess I can't glue it, because then I wouldn't be able to nail the casing onto it later without it coming loose?

you can always pre-drill if there seems to be a problem

Can I pre-drill for brads? Will they have any grip then?

A small brad, 1.7mm is no problem to drive in. It won't crack. Just avoid nailing closer than 10cm from the end.

It seems complicated to use salningslist and klackfoder. Buy a planed pine that you rip down to exactly the size you need. Then just use regular molding, simplest and best.

I have some salningslister left from previous projects here at home, and they are pre-painted as well. And they happen to fit perfectly to the mm with klackfoder, which is why I was thinking that way. I've tried holding it in place and it looks really nice.
Can I nail into the new door frame? I've never worked with a new frame before and it's so nice that I don't want to ruin it haha.

Sure, you can nail into the frame! By the way, it's also fine to glue if you feel more comfortable with that.

If you don't want to pre-drill, it also helps to clip the nails so they aren't pointed, as they will then cut the wood fibers instead of splitting them.
