Safety strips under stairs

Hello! We have a staircase that has been creaking a lot. Now I’ve loosened a bit on all the screws to the white safety strips that are under all the steps and the creaking is gone! My question is whether this risks weakening the staircase construction to the point that it is a risk?

No risk, there are plastic washers to use as spacers around the screws to prevent creaking.
