Certainly not a question directly related to our villa, but if there is anywhere to get a sensible answer, it's here when it comes to which material is durable and easy to work with for our needs.

I am planning to try and renovate a set of tires (on a stroller) that tend to collect gravel in large amounts. The idea is to first remove all the stones that have gotten stuck in the tires and then fill the holes and apply some suitable material to create a slightly better wear surface.

Thoughts on what I can buy to fill the holes with?
Thoughts on what I can use for the wear surface?

  • Close-up of a stroller wheel with small stones lodged in the tread, showing signs of wear and needing resurfacing for improved durability.
  • A stroller wheel with dirt and small stones embedded in the tread, photographed on a terracotta tile floor, highlighting wear and tear issues.

Is it possible to take the cut parts of a bicycle tire and sew them together with wire in some way?

The Gummilagningen from Biltema gets the job done. Guaranteed.

We also have similar tires on the stroller and it's not great fun to roll the stroller through the house on the parquet if there's a lot of gravel in the tires. Most air-filled rubber tires don't have that problem (but there's a risk of a flat tire).

Mm, I've been considering it. My only concern is really how wear-resistant it will be, as it will become the new wearing surface, you know...

The surface appears porous so I'm doubtful it will hold.
Seems to be a common problem. https://www.barnvagnsblogg.com/barnvagnshjul-en-guide/
Isn't it possible to switch to a better type of wheels?

It's probably possible, the question is at what cost. Considering that a new wagon can cost 10-15 thousand, the wheels are hardly free. My hope is to find a slightly cheaper, but still okay solution. =)

Thanks for the input though!

Cut a rubber hose that is slightly smaller so you can stretch it over the wheel.
I think Jula has cheap replacement hoses for their hand truck.
