Router, how do you do it?

I have built a wall-mounted bench and want to bevel the front edge in a nice way and plan to use a router (for the first time).

How do you make it look nice? What kind of router bit should be used (http://www.harald-nyborg.se/merinfo.asp?varenr=7683&n=10)? I guess you set the router to 45 degrees and aim as best as you can, right?
