Hello! I would like some input and advice. I live in a terraced house built with lightweight concrete elements that are cracking at the joints on all walls and ceilings. Now I'm renovating a room and I'm unsure whether to remove the wallpaper or not before putting up 6 mm gypsum.

Currently, there are about 3 layers of wallpaper in the room, with the outermost being a textured wallpaper likely with fiberglass. I would need to remove the textured wallpaper on one wall to level it with the new wall section that was installed when the door frame was replaced, but the question is what to do with the other walls?

Remove the textured wallpaper before gypsum?
Leave the wallpaper layers in place under the gypsum to possibly reduce cracking?

The wallpapers are quite well-adhered on most of the wall surfaces, but the room is small, so it's not a big job to remove them.

The gypsum will need to be attached with both glue and nail plugs...

I wouldn't use nail plugs to set up 6mm gypsum, instead, glue them up with tile adhesive. Remove the wallpaper first!
