Rot damage exterior panel

I need to replace two boards in the exterior panel due to rot damage. Do you have any comments on the procedure below?

• Cut the z-profile boards to exact lengths
• Dip the bottom ends of the boards in a can of cuprinol
• Pre-paint the boards
• Loosen the gable tip at the old boards
• Pry off the damaged boards
• Fit the new panel boards
  
• Nail the boards in place

I haven't found any suppliers of 165mm z-profile boards. I will probably have to custom order from a local carpenter.

If you are going to order custom, order more than you need, next time you or a future owner need to replace a couple of rotten boards, it's nice to have a few extras in stock.
