Hello!
I am sitting and writing a cost estimate for the renovation of our garage and I realize that I need some help with material selection for the room where hot work will occur.
The garage currently stands on a slab, and my idea is to use half of the garage as an actual garage and to transform the other half into a combined woodshop with a smaller room where hot work such as forging, metalwork, and other more or less flammable activities will take place. What I wonder is how I should furnish this room to get it approved or at least make it less flammable to work in? Some kind of metal sheet on the walls and ceiling might be better than wood, but I must admit that I have no idea how this should be done. Some form of insulation is probably also needed.
So I need tips on how to design the room, which materials I should use, and which I should avoid. The room next to it, with the woodshop, will have quite a bit of wood in it, anything I should consider regarding that? This is just for hobby use, but it would be unfortunate if the property were to burn down.
Thanks in advance!
Regards, Mia

The simplest should probably be plaster-clad walls and ceilings?

Feel free to contact your insurance company as they have some opinions on how the premises should be designed. If the premises are located close to other buildings, they usually require that construction is done with fire class EI60 and there should also be firefighting equipment available.
