Hello! I'm in the almost final stage of building the carport. I've asked a few local people about my idea for the roof beams to see if it will work. But I thought I'd also ask the question here.
I have 13 glulam beams that will support my 0.6mm corrugated metal roof. I wish to keep these beams untreated for simplicity and economic reasons.
The idea was also to directly screw the metal roof onto the beams.
But after some reconsideration and some advice regarding condensation moisture, untreated beams might not be a good idea.
The roof has a 2-degree slope so a condensation protection membrane under the roof probably wouldn't work well. So therefore I was thinking of using sill paper.
I thought of gluing the sill paper with asphalt adhesive on top of all the beams, and the sill paper should also have an overhang on the sides. About 4cm overhang on both sides.
This should completely protect the beams from condensation drops, and the ceiling of the carport will have a panel with about 1 cm air gap between each board so it's still very airy and can dry up in case of moisture.
Is my plan off track, or can I do it this way?
Any other advice?
