Is it possible to skip the metal collar around the chimney when laying roofing felt? How should the surface felt be laid then to ensure it's completely sealed?
I'm building a cylindrical-shaped roof and the tinsmith said he couldn't make a metal collar that fits the curved slope...

Sounds like a lazy tinsmith. Ask someone else.

Edit: Take a picture of how it looks. I'm curious.

A sheet metal worker who enjoys their job and is somewhat engaged would probably see it as a challenge and get excited...

it's probably going to be a rubber collar instead, which works as well and is much cheaper. this is how it looks:

Wooden boat hull being constructed in a workshop, with unfinished planks and joints visible under artificial lighting.

It's not difficult to sheet it, you don't have to follow the round. Dad, the roof goes up with the paper on the chimney then sheet over it. But you say it's a chimney? Won't the wood be too close to the pipe?

Sounds like a lazy tinsmith :)
