Hello!!

I have read the forum posts about roof lifting but would still like more information from someone who has done it or has a lot of knowledge...

We are planning to do the roof lift ourselves on our 130 square meter single-story house. This is something we have considered for a long time and have checked a bit with Borka and Åtvidaberg. From Borka, we received a price quote of 500,000, and they hadn't even been here to check.

No, so we are doing it ourselves, we have both a plumber and electricians in the family, the only thing missing is a carpenter.. :)

A hood and slightly higher ceiling?!?! Anyone who wants to share their experiences??

Without any other knowledge than what I have read, but there are probably two major questions that are important. Can the ground floor handle the weight increase from above and where/if it needs reinforcement. I would consult truss manufacturers about the trusses for the upper floor. They tend to be inexpensive enough that it's not worth making your own, and they are correctly calculated in the bargain.

hmm yeah.. it seems like not many others have the same plans as we do. The only thing available online about roof lifts is people who have had it done through, for example, borka and it doesn't seem worth that much money, then it would be cheaper to build new. But if you are happy where you live, then you are..

Anyone else??

Hello

We lifted the house in 2007 with the help of Åtvidabergs house and roof extensions - worked perfectly. We had already contacted an architect and obtained building permits ourselves, so what Åtvidabergs did was calculate reinforcement beams and construct four modules that were later lifted onto our house. Done in about a week (the framework in place, that is...). That's mainly the big advantage, I think - a weatherproof house quickly and Åtvidabergs takes responsibility when the house is "without a roof" (in case of a heavy rain). Your price of 500 kkr seems reasonable to me. That it would be cheaper to build new of course depends on where you live, but in our case, it was much cheaper to lift than to look for a new house...

Another company finished it - but you could have done it yourself if you have plenty of time and some skills.

Can highly recommend Åtvidabergs house and roof extensions. (www.atvidabergs.com)
