I have bought a used Zarges rolling scaffold that basically meets my needs nicely. However, I would like to have a railing to avoid falling over the edge when I have the platform at the highest levels. I note that there is a plethora of similar rolling scaffolds with 50mm pipes. Loose parts can be purchased in many places where the same part can differ by a factor of at least 2 in price. My brand, Zarges, is not among the cheaper ones...
Surely someone might object that you shouldn't mix parts, but that doesn't concern me at all. I have acquired this scaffold for my own use at home and take responsibility for my own usage.
Absolutely nowhere online can you find reliable information about pipe dimensions and c-c between standing pipes. When I measure (with ruler), I have 1272mm between the standing pipes in the end frames, and the pipes are OD 50mm and ID 46mm. I have thought that 1272 is very close to 50 inches (50x24.4=1270), could that be the case? Can anyone with wide handymen or rolling scaffolds of other brands please measure and check this? I am attaching a sketch of an end frame viewed from below. How does it work with side braces and diagonal braces? Can these be mixed, provided that you have the same spacing between the cross pipes on the end frames? For example, I have 7 cross pipes on my two-meter-high end frames.
Very grateful if we can help each other sort this out.
I don't know specifically about Zarges, but several of these scaffoldings are outright plagiarisms of what I understand to be the original - Instant / Zip-up. A tip could be to zip over to the nearest rental company and rent some parts to see if they fit. The parts are quite cheap to rent.
Unfortunately, I have a narrow scaffolding, otherwise, I would gladly check the measurements.
Hello again,
It turned out we had a Zarges handyman scaffold at work (narrow) and the measurement was 672 (exactly 600 narrower). Therefore, it would be interesting to know the c-c measurement of other brands, even the narrow ones, for comparison.
So cpalm, if you could make an effort I would be grateful, don't forget to inform what brand you have.

It is an Instant frame I have and I measure the c-c distance as 680 and the inner diameter of the tube as 47, so it doesn't seem to be exactly the same measurements.
