Hello! The old man is going to cut a body panel, the edges are getting frayed. What saw should he use? (he's a carpenter and has quite a few to choose from)

he is with a customer and is going to replace the deck on a trailer

Is it the board that looks like plywood but has a slightly bumpy surface? Personally, I usually cut with a sharp utility knife where the cut is to be made and then if he has a circular saw with a sharp blade it should work. Alternatively, if splinters occur, sand the edge with a sanding block.

Edit: a plunge saw with a rail is even better

Ok then I know, I have such on the trailer myself, I think there is some form of plastic coating on it, I sawed with a circular saw and fine-toothed blade from the backside along the board so it became straight, maybe a bit of fraying on the edge, but I didn't care too much.

He says it splinters. Damn, the board costs 1400 SEK. Oh well, he'll have to figure it out.

If the one Liteavvarje describes is coated with a plastic surface, it might work if he first saws through the surface with a fine-toothed saw, like a backsaw...

It usually only chips on one side, so if you turn the board, the chipping will be on the side that doesn't show.
