I would like to relocate an antenna cable, this in an outer wall. On the inside, I'm not sure if I feel like removing the board... but what are my alternatives... remove a plank on the outside of the house and run it there and drill a hole inside... but then I won't get a recessed box...

Are there more alternatives, perhaps?

There is an electrical outlet run there, can it be utilized somehow? I guess it's not good to place the antenna with electricity - risk of interference...

Or is it just a case of biting the bullet and removing the board and doing it properly? It's a good time now since I'm going to wallpaper there anyway. It's just that it's a Masonite board now and it's probably going to be a hassle to find a new one since it's not modern...

Why not send the signal wirelessly?
I personally have "relocated" the signal via the attic. That's where my cable is. Then it goes down in the corner and continues under the trim. In the corner, it's covered with wallpaper.

Is the wireless technology developed enough now that it's worth looking into?

You can always check. But don't buy anything that uses the same frequency as wireless routers.

ROT-dosa would probably work...

what does a ROT box mean then? are there boxes that don't have to be pre-mounted inside the wall before the board?

Like, drill a big hole... then just mill out a groove for the cable...

Yes. Check here.

"Rotdosa for supplementary use in stud walls
Eljo Rotdosa has no conduits to enable post-installation in stud walls. With two fastening brackets, the dosa is tightened against the back of the wall panel. If the wall is insulated, piping is suitably done with VP pipes, which are connected to the dosa with flex conduit."

I myself have the antenna cable running straight down the outside of the wooden facade. Where the junction box is, holes are drilled through the outer wall for the antenna cables. Simple and works well. For safety's sake, a little insulation is filled in the box.

And how do you run the cable from the ROT junction box through the outer wall? Via VP pipes or without? How do you protect against water at the penetration?

The cable was supposed to be - as I understood it - placed inside the outer panel...

Well, it's not really that there is any protection against water since where I have my holes there is no risk. But if there was a risk, a little silicone would probably work. Personally, I think it seems more work than necessary to pull the cable on the inside of the outer wall, but that can depend on placement and visibility in the individual case.

If you have laminate flooring or another "click" system, there are no problems. You just saw a slot under the trim. The cable will not be visible!
