I have quite a bit of insulation lying around that has been under a roof for a few years. Unfortunately, I believe it has been a cozy spot for both cats and insects over the years. However, it actually looks fresh and the question is whether it could be used again?

It's not so much about frugality as an attempt to avoid having to transport this away and then bring home the same amount. In total, it's insulation for about 170 square meters of roof.

Stacked insulation boards, slightly weathered, stored in a sheltered area, with some debris on the ground.

There are probably insulation machines that turn it into loose fill, I wouldn't hesitate to use that.

I'm just afraid that it will start to smell once it's built in and the heating is turned on... then it won't be so cheerful to redo it! But it would be great to avoid having to get rid of this and buy a lot of new insulation.
