Hello
We are renovating a small warehouse building and will be insulating the roof. Currently, there are standard roof trusses (well, as standardized as they were in 1927) and I will be installing a light beam construction (masonite + 45x45 timber) to create a space for insulation (of course with about a 30 mm air gap closest to the outer roof).
There is a desire in the household to replace the horizontal wooden beam, collar tie?, on the truss (dimensions about 80x80 mm and length about 3.5 m) with a thinner metal construction to gain more space, i.e. to see more of the ceiling above these beams. We have seen in various home magazines that there are such constructions with relatively slim stay rod-like products where the rod itself might be about 30mm in diameter. However, we have not been able to find any supplier of such. Can anyone provide tips on this? Do you have experience replacing beams with such metal rods? How are these attached to the sloping beams?
Many questions, hoping for answers...
