Know nothing about timber, need to replace fascia board
Existing fascia board 25x170x230
Looking for quality G4-2 or better, that's what it's recommended online. What is G4-2? What timber should I use?

Only find thickness 22, can I use thickness 28 instead?

28 works well if you replace the whole lot or the same row. That is, so that the planks fit together. You get the quality they have at the lumber yard. The important thing is to first cut it to size and then let the end grain stand in a bucket with wood oil overnight, so it absorbs properly. Then paint, and finally nail it up.

Thank you for the response,,

Paint with a breathable color

Do you have any example of paint that "breathes"?

The best thing is to check the can or ask the seller. But I would avoid pure acrylate/latex paints. Apparently, there are one or more types of acrylate paints that also breathe.
But for example, oil alkyd paint and linseed oil paint should breathe.
It's important to paint wood on all sides.

You should choose 28mm as it generally maintains better quality than the standard 22mm panel boards. A building supply store should be able to order 28mm if they lack it and in the length you need. Regarding paint, it is fine to use what is available in the store and follow the instructions; personally, I stick to a known brand and have used the same product for the last 35 years, where it has been further developed.
So what was relevant for, for example, acrylate 40 years ago is not the same as today, along with new impregnation oils and primers that are now part of how painting should be done. For fascia boards, I have used door/window paint.
This paint is just one example.
