All doors in the basement are about 1.9 m high. I want to replace them with 2 meter high doors. The problem is that above the current door there is a cast concrete beam (about 200 mm high). Otherwise, the basement walls are built with concrete hollow blocks. On top of the concrete beam also rests a wooden beam for the floor above.
The following I wonder:
1. If I support the beam for the joists, how do I most easily demolish the concrete beam above the door?
2. After demolishing the beam, can I replace it with a smaller steel beam (about 100 mm high)?
3. If yes to question 2, how do I most easily anchor it in the side wall?

I am 1.90 meters tall and have learned to duck...
But anyway. I find it a bit charming with lower door frames, the ceiling in our basement will, for example, be about 1.92 .... so there will be spotlights in those ceilings...
